Halloween

This year I didn't really decorate for Halloween because I really haven't been home and didn't want to add clutter with decorations since the house still is on the market. I also didn't feel like crawling around in my attic until I found the box where everything is.. ( I soo need to label). But... I did put out these lovelies..

White garden bench: Old Time Pottert $19.99, Scary book : Borders Bin sale $2.99, Black Rose: Walmart $1.50.

Glam Pumpkin display above Curio cabniet. I made these from this Tutorial . I just loved the concept and decided to add my own touches. I ran out of sparklies so I decided to take a swing at freehanding some of the designs.. I also Added another black rose and Crow from Michaels that Ed hates... and a sea lamp from the Pottery Barn outlet.

Lastly we have this DIY Glam Rose Wreath. My mom helped me with this one last year, its simple to make...
What you'll need:
Floral Wreath from your local craft store (in your preferred size).
About 4 bushes of roses (I used these black with purple glitter ones)
3 long sprigs of Eucalyptus
Roll of shiny Black Ribbon
Hot Glue Gun

Cut the Roses  and leave close to the stem and hot glue to the floral wreath. Make sure to open up the flowers prior to glueing so that they take up more space... once you make it all the way around and like the fill amount add in some random cuttings of the Eucalyptus at random intervals.
Add a length of ribbon long enough to hang wreath at desired height, Tie at the top with a large bow.
Hang and enjoy your sucess..

I Covet Thee

Retro Bicycles are the latest trend and you know me I just have to jump on the band wagon. Here is my next large purchase when I get back from the beach. I just can't wait to get a pretty basket to hang up front and take long rides in the local park.

Walmart: 26' Cranbrook Cruiser/ Comfort Bike in Mint Green.. Only $79 !!!

Birthday Festivities

Ok so I spent the big 25 doing a number of different things..

On Friday I recieved a Cookie Cake at work from my department.

I had a giany bouquet of flowers delivered from my most loving bf and we headed to OG for dinner because I had the worst craving for their salad and breadsticks.
Saturday rolled around I had to take a test first thing in the AM which knocked off my schedule to get may facial at the spa... Which I now need to reschedule.
However that did give me some freetime to do some crafts.
My Parents then took and Ed out for lunch to eat Cuban food that was no where near hometown quality but not bad for NC.
The party began.. We went to Mez a local nightclub that plays an assortment of music that leans more into electronic mixing with top hits.
Sunday we were supposed to go to the MeltingPot for dinner but thats being postponed until this weekend where we will be going to the one in Myrtle Beach instead...

And now I Give you the birthday horde... all my lovely presents from family and freinds...

Theres the giant bouquet I mentioned earlier... Ed also gave me the dooney and bourke purse in blue leather just like I wanted but had talked myself out of spending that much on a purse. He also got me a pocketsized notebook with attached pen, because I always have a notepad and this way this one will fit in the new purse.
My mother gifted me a hand dyed shirt with some vintage books, and a wicked themed notebook, also a cinnamon candle plater thing from Pier 1 (it smells wonderful but fell apart in the bag). There was some handmade pottery from a local shoppe along with the spa facial and a handmade one of a kind wooden bracelet from another local boutique.
My grams gifted a B&N giftcard which with me never goes to waste.
My aunt gave me a Camelbak insulated water bottle, because she knows I have a thing with sippy cups(i know its weird) and that I've been stink eyeing hers for months.
A freind gave me a Starbucks GC which as well will so not go to waste... I can taste the vanilla lattes now with the cooling weather...

Wardrobe Raid

Most mornings I argue with my closet and effectively leave late for work while still being completely unsatisfied with what I walk out in; because as always the closet won.

As for those miraculous days that I manage to smile on my way out the door (that I'm still subsequently late walking out of) we have what I like to call the wardrobe raid.

To start this off I will go waay back to my trip in Bolivia where I decided to try some of the local garb... well the handmade local stuff... I think I could manage... maybe?

Puppy Love

Well whoever said that pets aren't part of the family did not happen to know my two little ones... because they sure think otherwise...

Alfie is a 4 Year Old Carin Terrier

He love carrots, cuddling under the covers in chilly weather and doesn't seem to know when he's on empty, but he keeps lifting his leg like he had the bladder of a mastiff.

Hookah aka Hookah Bear is a 1 year old Teacup Yorkie

As you can see she loves to pose and always has to be the center of attention (especially if it involves her brother)... She is my alarm clock in the morning showering me with kisses all over my face (not like i have a choice in the matter) Gross I know.

Costume Concept

We all know Halloween is right around the corner. I am thinking of going as a female Maverick from you guessed it: Top Gun

Inspiration has to come from somewhere.

House Tour

As mentioned I am trying to sell my tiny little townhouse. Here are some picture of  what I have done to make it slightly homier.

Fall Dinner Party

It was high time that my parents met my Bf's Parents (well mom) and I had the bright idea to throw a dinner party. I love to cook and entertain but planning a 4 course meal for 8 people was a little more daunting than I expected; considering that this was my first official dinner party with non- immediate family guests. Which to me means decorations and no plastic tableware... so heres how it turned out.

It went off without a hitch... Even though I was still stuck at the kiddie table in my own house...

For decorations I used a simple white table cloth, with Burlap from Michaels as a runner down the middle. I picked up some fresh harvest veggies at Walmart for about $2 total, and some fall colored flowers from the local grocery store. I wrapped a burlap scrap around a bedside water decanter I used as a Vase. I have 2 sets of 4 place settings as you can see above the square black set from Ikea and the circular white set from Oneida (gift), I mixed and matched the two sets to have a full 8 place settings and to look more cohesive. Cost to decorate $20.

Menu:
Appetizers:
Caprese Salad with Basil infused EVOO
Homemade Bruchetta
Garden Veggie Hummus and Pita Chips
Main:
Ceasar Salad with Homemade Dressing
My Signature Turkey Meatballs (that are fried in EVOO then baked in the oven).
Whole Grain Pasta with Heirloom Tomato Sauce
Cheesy Garlic Bread
Dessert:
Coffee flavored Bread Pudding
Wine Wine and more Wine!!! Oh and some of my homemade Iced Sweet Tea with lemon.

Home Office Before and After

Here was my sorry little office when i firse moved in. Very very blah! and not to mention messy.

And now.... Most of the furniture is from Ikea inclduing the Billy bookcases with height extensions for a built in look. The Leksvik desk (perfect size to place facing the room) the Hajdeby reading chair that is tucked into the corner (on sale for only $14.99, I had to purchase immediately). The stefan chair is behind the desk. The non ikea pieces are the Sewing table from Haverty's (a gift from mom)  and the side table in the reading corner is a hacked plant stand from Home Goods.

Before & After

Mod Chimnea Update
Here is the Chimnea before I got Spray Paint happy one after noon.

The only color Options were Black, White, and Cream....I was hoping to track down a can of Orange but had to settle with the Cream. Can't wait for fall and winter days when I can light this bad boy up.
